Hey there! I'm Kelly, the gal behind the flowers at Barn Swallow Blossoms. I farm sustainably-grown cut flowers on the McKenzie River in Oregon. I started growing flowers a few years ago while working on small-scale, organic vegetable farms near Eugene. What started as a hobby quickly bloomed into a passion project and mild obsession with flowers...and now a small business! I'm proud to serve the McKenzie River Valley and Eugene/Springfield area with my blooms and to contribute to the burgeoning "slow flowers" scene here in Oregon.
I am in the process of expanding my business in 2021! Most of the flowers this summer will continue to be grown on my leased plots in Leaburg, but my partner Adam and I are slowly transitioning to a new farm property. We are thrilled to partner with the McKenzie River Trust in stewarding the farmland at the Berggren Watershed Conservation Area in Springfield. In addition to flowers, we hope to offer sustainably-produced meat, eggs, and fall/winter vegetables starting in 2022.
While BSB is not certified organic, I use only organic methods and lease land from an Oregon Tilth Certified Organic vegetable and berry farm, Organic Redneck Growers. My crop records are verified as part of their certification process. I prioritize buying seed from local, organic companies in the Pacific Northwest whenever possible.
